The PROHOLD® external hydraulic pumping unit has a molded fiberglass cover with built-in handle for a svelte appearance.  The hydraulic pump unit uses a 4000 psi pump driven by a 1/3HP 115-volt AC motor.  The only lines leading to and from the external hydraulic pump unit are the electric power connection and two hydraulic hoses [pressure & tank] when using it with Low-Profile 2- or 3-jaw chucks, vise or the hydraulic tailstock without a brake.   It has three hydraulic hoses [pressure, tank & brake] when using it with a tailstock with brake.  Hydraulic connections can be ordered with or without quick disconnects.  The unit is totally automatic and runs only when there is a demand for operating pressure at the chuck, vise and/or brake.  Workholding circuit pressure is adjusted between 150-3200 psi  using the pressure limit switch.  Once the workholding pressure is set for the desired clamping pressure, the pump cycles automatically thereafter to actuate the chuck, vise jaws or brake, as dictated by the operator's use of the valve for clamping or unclamping the chuck or vise, at will, or to clamp the brake.  There is a sight glass on the tank which holds approximately two gallons of hydraulic fluid.  Maximum system pressure relief valve is set at 3800 psi.  There is an on/off light and switch.  On pump units with brake line, there is a second on/off light and switch for a manual override of the hydraulic tailstock brake. There are two pressure gauges - one for clamping pressure and the other for system and/or brake pressure.  The brake circuit uses a zero-leakage poppet-type solenoid brake valve.
